Slight Obsession...

My dear husband has a new obsession. Not only is he an awesome guitar player but now he is an awesome guitar maker. He is making cigar box guitars. The first one was kind of for fun. He made it to play at our mission Sunday at church. The idea was to have the rugged affect. It was super cool but as he worked on it he realized there were a lot of "I could have"s.  So he came home with 5-6 more cigar boxes.
This is second guitar he made. Maylin LOVES it.
Pierson is holding the first guitar he made.

Then of course the kids wanted one, and he decided to make one for an upcoming charity auction...
I don't know exactly how many he is working on currently... but I do know he is having A LOT of fun and learning new tricks each time. Anyone have a need for a cigar box guitar?
I know where you can get one! ;)

Fancy Nancy Party

Yep, I am behind again... However,

On Valentines Day Maylin's class had a Fancy Nancy Party. She was so very excited about this event. She talked about it for a week before hand. Every morning she asked "Is today my Fancy Party?" The Friday before while we were at the dollar store for their weekly reward (for good behavior) she picked out glittery makeup so she could "sparkle".
Eager to start the party!
She was happy to be eating her Ice Cream Sunday! For those of you who don't know her very well... she thinks of ice cream just about all day, every day!
She wanted a picture of everyone at her table.
And of course she wanted a Mommy picture.
We took LOTS of pictures with friends... I'll spare you most of those.
A whole class picture. (this one is zoomed in)
Then came the candy! Oh she loves candy!
The Fancy Nancy party was a success and this little girl was all too thrilled that Mommy was there to celebrate it with her. Which made this Mommy all to thrilled to be there!
.
Even though I didn't get to celebrate with Pierson at school we still had fun sorting candy and reading messages from his friends. He got lot's of candy grams from kids outside his class... Most of which were older girls... Ummm??? Yeah?  Not sure how I feel about that? ;)

I gave the kids a little Valentine from Mommy and Daddy after school. Maylin got her one true love... Drawing paper and colored pens.
Pierson got a bug catcher and magnifying glass. He said, "Mommy you got this because you KNOW I LOOOOVE bugs didn't you?" Yes sweet heart I did.
The only thing I didn't think about... it is February... not many bugs out yet! That was sort of a let down as he raced outside and began turning over rocks searching for bugs. Oops. Oh well he'll appreciate it this summer! Long after Maylin's gift is used up. Which by the way has already happened.

Gymnastics part II

Still going well. I just had to share these pictures.
I am not 100% sure, but I think she likes it.

And she looks so cute in her piggy tails and shinny leotard.

Let's Go Fly a Kite

Have I ever told you how much I love him? Pierson... He is so precious. Sure there are times when things aren't 100% 'peachy'. But none-the-less there are WAY more things that outweigh those silly moments. Like when he realizes it is windy outside.
"MOMMY! Can you help me fly a kite!?"
Forget the dishes that needed to be loaded in the dishwasher, or the piles of laundry needed folded or washed... My little boy wants ME to help HIM fly a kite. In that moment I just couldn't say "no".
For a moment it was just he and I.
For a moment time stood still.
That is a moment etched in my mind forever.

Mary Poppins?

Well not exactly. For some reason the kids got in their minds that they were going to make their own umbrellas... Yeah... not sure where that came from.

They had been outside playing, next thing I know they were inside pulling out the wax paper and running back outside? Curious, I went out to see what they were doing. They were sticking a stick through the center of the paper and were pretty disappointed that the paper didn't stand out on it's own.

I tried to show them that umbrella's have supports that keep the fabric up...
Which led too...

 finding sticks...
 a bunch of hot glue....
 and wax paper.

And there you have it. Home made umbrellas... Shew! Glad we have those! What are we going to do with 'em?
... no idea?
At least we have the memories! And one day they will look back and say "My mom is so cool... because she knows how to make umbrellas."

 ....Right? ;)
