Girls night out!

Disney On Ice with Maylin was fantastic!
She didn't know where she was going. She just knew that we were going to see princesses. Her eyes lit up like Christmas trees when I told her she needed to dress up like a princess. She decided not to wear any of her "dress up costumes". "Dey too itchy". So we opted for a pretty dress, her fancy shoes, and a crown. Prettiest princess I know!
Of course there was a little down time before we left. Who doesn't want to play on a swing set in high heels?

Once downtown we were walking towards dinner. I thought Fuel Pizza would be a good choice, not for the pizza mind you, but for the spaghetti. This is my noodle queen after all. However, we passed Moe's... I guess the thought of a bowl of rice won out! She didn't want the tortilla, just a bowl of rice, beans, and shredded cheese. Dinner for the champions! :)
Doesn't my little girl look like a BIG girl! Rip out my heart! Seriously, she needs to stop growing! :)

Twirling without a care in the world in the middle of Epicenter uptown.
I love that she still has no inhibitions. She gracefully walked about 20 feet away from me and said, "Do you want me to twirl for you?"  ME:  "Well of course Princess twirl away!"
Twirl she did. It was as if this space was created for her, for this night, for all the world to see. She was the center of my attention, and she knew it, and relished it.
Semi Related side note: If you haven't seen the movie "Courageous" you should. Not because of the acting, but for the message. For those of you who have seen it you will understand why I played 'Ring Around the Rosies' in the center of uptown Charlotte as if Maylin and I were the only ones there.  Yep, I felt silly at first, but letting my daughter feel like she is the only thing that matters felt even better!

When we got to the arena we quickly went potty, and bought one treat. (The nifty little light thing below?) Then it was off to our seat for the show to begin! Maylin was silenced. This was the expression on her face throughout the program.

At one point I was wondering if she was really enjoying it. Then I reached over and gently scratched her leg. The giggles and smiles I got out of that were priceless. Yep. She was having the time of her life.
Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy introduced the show.
Then it was time for princess Tiana to make her appearance. As Tiana was singing "I'm almost there". Maylin looked over at me and said, "Mommy, how dat girl know dat song?" I said, "Of course she knows that song, that is Princess Tiana."  Maylin looked at me with eyes like saucers, head shaking, eyebrows raised and a grin like the Cheshire cat and said, "WHAAAT!?"  Immediately her eyes were glued back on the ice along with a permanent grin.

The following pictures are some of Maylin's favorite pictures from the evening. You might enjoy them, but I know Maylin will love seeing them on the blog so bear with me here for a moment!

Cinderella

Intermission. I'd say she was a happy camper! What is not to love about princesses, fancy shoes, crowns, and cotton candy?
Rapunzel.

Cinderella's grande finale.
Rapunzel's grande finale.
Mulan making her first and only appearance.
Disney may have it's faults, I don't really know? But last night they surely made my little girls dreams come true!

Checking out her loot from the show. She was happy, and I was happy because she was happy! Makes for a wonderful evening.

Some of my favorite pictures that never got posted from Beach Trip 2011

New cupcake shop behind Calabash Creamery! It was YUMMY!
Three of the sweetest boys I know!
The three most gorgeous girls I know!
The six of them together... well that is just too much to handle! :)
Can I just say that I LOVE her grin!

Yeah, his eyes were a getting a bit puffy... this is what the onset of a virus looks like for Pierson! But he is still so handsome!
Taking life one step at a time!
Giggle fits.

Pierson starting to fade. After he fell asleep buried in the sand we realized he wasn't feeling well. I just love this picture though. My precious baby.
Bring it on world!

I think a week of no naps, an endless sand box, and awesome waves wore Caleb OUT! Good thing we took the wagon with us on our walk.
Will someone build these princesses a life size castle?! I mean really. What three girls deserve it more?
Oops! Uncle Ian got a bit excited about the last trip up the stairs with the wagon. Can you say traffic jam? LOL
Definitive: Daniel likes s'mores!

Glow sticks really are a lot of fun!

Six little cuties jumping on the bed. One fell off and...
Well, no one fell off, but we sure did have a difficult time getting them to sit still for this one.

Hello "Killy" babes.
Anyone have any palm fronds. Prince Pierson needs to be cooled off.
Yep this was the storm that brought the water spout. It was awesome to watch from a distance... but I definitely wouldn't want to be in it's path!
I just love Darcy Q!
If you look closely you can see the last inkling of the water spout. We had been on a walk when it was going full force. It had been about 10x's that size! I totally wouldn't have wanted to be on one of those boats.
To be honest I am not even sure which kid that is... I just love the contrast of the clouds and the reflection of their figure.

Pierson flying a kite... FYI there was no thunder or lightening with this storm but there was some great wind! :)

Trying to throw a Frisbee against the wind is pretty hard when you are five!

Oh beach days... how I miss thee!

Where Have I Been?

Several people have asked me recently where I have been? I have been a little slack recently.
I have been crazy busy the past few weeks helping to plan our churches "Impact Day". Impact Day is the United Methodist Churches way of getting out and being a part of our communities.
Our goal: Leave a path of Love and goodness throughout our community. To be the Light of God to those who need a glimmer of hope.
Our church sent eight groups of volunteers to build two wheelchair ramps, underpin one trailer, wash lots of windows, paint 4 porches, pressure wash a home, trim bushes, clean several homes and visit a local nursing home. There were also wonderful volunteers who prepared three different meals that day. Others who delivered those meals. Some volunteered to keep the kids of those going out to do the work. And even a few more who were there to help lead all volunteers in worship that evening after a long day of work.
Sound like a busy day? That is an understatement! It was a busy few weeks. But it was awesome!
Here are a few pictures of all of our work and planning coming to life.

Our pastor and his wife washing windows.
 Trimming hedges.
 Ironing clothes.

 Painting porches.
 Delivering lunches.
 Building a ramp.
 Painting railings.
Getting dirty while underpinning a trailer.

These are just a few of the MANY things we did that day! God's light was shown throughout our community hopefully it is just a beginning!
