January 5th! Pierson's Birthday

This one was actually taken the Sunday before his birthday. Kathy, (aka honorary Grandma Miller) got him and awesome airport play set! Thanks Kathy he LOVES it! He has been playing with it non-stop. He says he is flying to Taiwan for a few hours,  but "I be wight back. OK Ma?"

Birthday morning he asked for scrambled eggs in a round about way. He said "Ma I want eggs like dis." and he swirled his hand around as if he were mixing up his eggs.
For those who have been reading the blog for a while he has switched back to eggs in the morning. (because Adam has too). One morning I asked him what he wanted to eat. That conversation went something like this:
Me: "Pierson what would you like for breakfast?"
Pierson: (whispering towards Adam) "Dad what you eat?"
Adam: "Eggs"
Pierson: "Ma I yant eggs."
Me: "How many eggs?"
Pierson: "Dah, how many you want?"
Adam: "two"
Pierson: "Two!"
Me: "How would you like them fixed?"
Pierson: "Dah, how you fix dem?"
Adam: "sunny side up"
Pierson: "waz dat suhy si up?"
Adam: "like this (holding one hand flat and one in a fist on top as if playing 'paper, rock, scissors.)"
Pierson: "Ok, Ma like dis (mimicking Adam's hands)."
: ) Makes my heart smile that he wants to be like his Daddy!

That afternoon Adam surprised him by going to school to eat lunch with him. After lunch Maylin and I joined them to bring cupcakes to his class. When we arrived they were doing the Cha Cha Slide.
I think Pierson was having a little bit of fun! Although I am not sure who was having more fun Pierson or Daddy?!

Pierson got to help pass out his cupcakes. He was very proud of his Lighting McQueen cupcakes.
Maylin pulled up a chair between Pierson and Elijah.
(Pierson usually talks about playing with the girls in his class, but Elijah is the one boy who he consistently talks about being his best friend.)
After cupcakes it was time to go out to the playground. So they all bundled up and we headed outside.

Pierson got a little assistance getting through the hole in the wall. LOL
After this play ground experience we realized why Pierson mostly talks about the girls in his class.
1. They seem to flock to him
2. The boys in his class are ROWDY! They spent the entire time chasing each other and tackling each other.
3. There are a lot of pretty little girls! : )
Elijah seemed to the only other boy who ever stopped tackle mania.
Over all it was a great experience spending the afternoon in Pierson's class. It was fun to see him in action with his friends.

I'll post more about his birthday meal in the next post.

New Years Day!

We decided a walk around the property would be a fun way to spend New Years day with our little family. The weather was quite warm. We didn't even need jackets. Off through the woods we went. Chaucer even enjoyed running through the woods and bounding through creeks. It was a nice long walk. We picked "flowers" (aka weeds), climbed trees and threw sticks into the creek all until...
it started to rain! By that point we were on the opposite side of the 30 acres and had no choice but to perceiver and head for the house. This is what two wet kiddo's look like when they make it home from treading through the woods in the rain!

Guess we should have taken the umbrellas with us on our walk (or checked the weather report)!
That evening we met Grandpa Mickey and Claire, Kathy and my mom for dinner to celebrate Pierson's upcoming birthday. I didn't get any pictures of the meal, but here is the aftermath! Both kids love this "glow in the dark" basketball set. They would run and run trying to do some sort of lay up. Each attempt left them face first in the door. But they would shake it off with laughter and get up and try it again!
Maylin decided she would get an extra step up to better her chances of making it in the basket... I'd like to say it helped her... but... not so much! lol

Over all it was a wonderful New Years day. We are looking forward to what 2011 has in store for us. May God richly bless each and every one of you this coming year.

New Years!!!

Our New Year's Eve celebration was a relaxing quite one spent with friends. Pierson and Maylin took a long much needed nap so they could make it until midnight. We played the Wii until it was time to watch the ball drop. (Did anyone else miss the actual ball drop? I was watching but they never really showed it. Pierson said "Mom? Where de sparkee bawll?" We told them there would be a huge sparkley ball drop from on top of a building...?)

I love their approaches to playing. Pierson going for the full body action.
Maylin likes to enjoy her gaming in the comfort of Mommies lap.

Yeah... I am speechless too! : )

Waiting for the ball to drop!

After we rang in the new year we went outside to have fun with sparklers! (courtesy of Nick and Liz's wedding) We got to watch a few fireworks over the tree line. Our neighbors were shooting off what I am sure were illegal fireworks! :0 but they sure were pretty!
Happy New Year from our family to you!

First Ski Trip!

They look so cute all bundled up and ready to ski! They did so well. They lasted almost 4 hours. I was amazed! I was half afraid that they would make it about 45 minutes and then be ready to go warm up. But they were both troopers! They each took about a half an hour break with Claire to get some hot chocolate. Unfortunately we didn't get many pictures because the camera battery died. :(

If you squint real hard you can spot Maylin in her pink outfit, Adam beside her to the right, then Pierson and Mommy in the blue.
Maylin going up the conveyor belt for the bunny slope.  She did great! The guy working at the top actually told me she did the best of all the kids getting off!  My little ski bunny did so well!
Look at the first big tree there is a little kid bundled up.. that is Pierson coming up the conveyor belt and Adam is the next person behind him. Sorry! Next ski trip we will be sure to charge the battery!
Grandpa and Maylin getting ready to head down the slope!
Maylin tended to want to lead backwards so to keep her in proper form we would yell for her to keep her "shinny down!" Around here we refer to bottoms as "shinny hinny's" : )
And like the good little listener she is she would tuck back down and stick that little 'shinny' out! It was pretty funny but she did great!
Pierson did really well. He even went up the chair lift to the "big slope".  He did ride down between Adam's legs but on his own ski's. It was so precious to see his eye's light up while telling the story of how he rode up in the chair in the sky!

Dec 27th Christmas at Grandpa's

I know, I know I am trying to catch up!
Christmas at Grandpa Mickey's and Grandma Claire was wonderful. It was complete with LOTS of snow, yummy food, great presents, relaxing movie time, sledding and skiing!

Pierson and Maylin were a bit fond of the present part of the trip! To say they have been spoiled this Christmas is putting it mildly! : )
The bug vacuum was a great hit. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of  bugs in the dead of winter in the Mountains. It will come in handy this spring when those critters start coming back out.
tThere were keyboards, light projectors, scarves, hats, candy... and more! Thanks guys! Pierson and Maylin have enjoyed  all of their presents!

They had a lot of fun sledding and crashing!
Maylin looking a little disheveled after a nice tumble! She is a tough little cookie.

I personally love the ski goggle look on Pierson!
And Finally Maylin had enough. She peeked back out to let everyone else know that they were crazy for staying out and freezing!

Snow Day Part II

After warming up by the fire, napping, watching a little Christmas movie, and eating snow with raspberry flavoring it was time
 for round two!
This time our friends Kate and  Andy had come over to join in the festivities. It is always more fun with friends! Everyone was feeling a little frisky,
 ,
Even the horses! Rusty rolled and kicked it was so cute!
Ian and Darcy Q made an awesome snowman!
Daddy put his skis on and took the kids for a ride! I think they fell in love with skiing! The only downer was the walk back up the hill!
Kate and Maylin went for a great ride! (the snow was very wet and heavy one that wasn't really great for speed but it sure didn't stop us from having fun!)
The sun was trying to peek through the clouds. It was a beautiful afternoon

making for the perfect family portrait of the M family!

Ian decided to take Maya for a sled ride. But Chaucer (to the left) wouldn't let them go too far! He decided that dogs don't sled!
I love that my kids have so many people who love them!
" I think I hear someone coming?"
"Oh no! It's a Pierson Monster!"
"AHH! He got me!" : )
Kristi and Darcy go for a ride.
Oh joy of little girls on a sled! The giggles they share bring so much joy to my life!

Caleb and Pierson made pint size snowmen!
Here are the five most precious snow angels in town! I hope this picture leaves you as heart happy as it has me!
