Matchies

OK, so we can't quite swing total matching outfits anymore. It is difficult with different taste in clothes (that is the kids taste) and most difficult is that some are in "little kids" clothes and others are getting into "big kids" clothes.  booo whooo!   So we just have to make due with color coordination.
And let me tell you that my sister picked outfits her kids, laid them out, took pictures of them and emailed them to me so we could match! Yep we are nuts.
 This is Red/black/white day
Somehow I didn't get a picture of them all lined up for a picture on Orange day but we do have this awesome picture of them dancing on their seats at Joe's Crab Shack.

Peace love and Turquoise. Posing in the "Life is Good" van in Calabash.
Pink and Blue day. We ate fresh shrimp and just had to have a picture of the boat dinner came in on!
Green day... not the band... the kids! ;)
Then there was the "Daddy's school day" Pierson and Maylin sported UNC while the Miller kids showed off their Hokie pride.

We may have had a battle or two over who was better! :)
 White night!
And another Green day. Courtesy of Grandma who bought them all close-to-matchies as possible.
There you have it folks. No other day of the year do our kids match. I for one just don't have the personality to be that particular about what my kids wear. But for some reason our annual beach trip pulls out the crazies in my sister and I. Happy dressing. I wonder how many more years we'll be able to pull this off?

And we Fished...

We are so blessed to go to the beach each year with our family. (thanks Grandma Miller!) This year we had a house on one of the canals. Oh the possibilities that brought. Each afternoon and several mornings the kids headed out to the dock to cast their fishing rods.

They caught TONS of fish. Of course all of the fish combined would not have fed our crew even appetizers.
(they were kinda small) But each fish brought award winning excitement!
Pierson fishing in his PJ's

 Maylin's first fish
She is doing the happy dance right here! "I caught a fish. I caught a fish!"
 Pierson showing off another catch.
This particular afternoon the kids were literally catching fish within seconds of putting their bait in the water. Kylie and Maylin just happened to pull their fish out at the same time!
Maylin's fish jumped off the hook and may or may not have slipped through the cracks and her little fish may or may not have landed on top of one of the buoys and had no chance of making it back into the water. Uncle Ian and I (the only two adults on the dock at the time) looked at each other... Uhhhh.... What do you do?  Pull the boards up? Tell the kids it really did make it in the water? Try and find a stick and try to thwap it off the buoy?
Nope Uncle Ian jumped in the canal and carefully reached in and saved the day! Shew!!!
Before the end of the week most of the kids were even baiting their own hooks!  I even baited one or two hooks... And that my friends is a BIG deal!
Pierson kissed a couple fish. Too bad the fairy tale doesn't go something like this...
And the Prince kissed a fish... And he and the princess lived happily ever after. :)
Even though this Mommy is NOT ready for him to find a princess... it would make a cute story.
 Caleb caught a MONSTER fish!
... or it is Kylie's fish which just happened to hang in front of Caleb making it look really large.
Maylin baiting her own hook.  eeewwww
 and the fishing went on...
 and on...
 and on...
 and on...
 happy fishing days
 and many more!
Here's to fishing!

Desserts

Oh yeah, this family is coo-coo and about DESSERT!
We hit up this Italian Ice twice through the week. Our family has some dairy allergies and lactose intolerance so this place was a big hit! It was so delicious and refreshing! And even as exciting it was on the island! We didn't have to drive all the way into Calabash every night for treats!
Of course we did make our way into 3 Calabash for some deliciousness. (fortunately they do serve Italian ice too).

We also enjoyed an awesome little bakery. Can you say CUPCAKES?!
 These 6 can!

Of course we enjoy the desserts but we also enjoy the fellowship we share while sitting on the patios. We might... just might get a little
 SILLY!

Oh I love a summer sugar rush!

The First Day at the Beach...

there is nothing like it.

 let the digging begin!

 Running from the waves.
 Catching crabs and fish.
 Burring Daddy/uncle Adam.
 Chilling with cousins.
What a day it was! One day down, 5 to go!
At what age does sand on your face start bothering you?
I can safely report that it is not age 6.

The Yearly "White Pictures"

This year the night we decided to do our annual family "White Pictures" on an EXTREMELY windy night.

Maybe our family pictures didn't turn out so well but the annual "Silly Pictures" are just as silly as ever!
No story... just pure Silliness. Enjoy
