So Much Soapy Fun

So what do you do with a 4 and a 5 year old who are bored of being in the house on a 98 degree day? Offer to go to the creek? "Nope, to haka" (too hot) Do you want to go to the play ground? "Nope to Haka". Do you want to play with sidewalk chalk? "nope to haka"... getting the picture. So we decided to clean their outside toys. That went over well and before long we were cleaning everything in the back yard!

But not before we posed like Charlie's Angels! (I didn't pose them! I promise they did it on their own! :)

Chaucer spent much of the afternoon running from the water. They wanted to "cool" him off. Poor thing. He is a pretty tolerant dog!

Maylin decided to clean the back door. Pretty funny. It was squeaky clean up to about 4 feet.

I personally liked Pierson's rinse method. He would get a running start and throw a bucket of water on the door and then laugh hysterically as if he was scaring me and getting me wet.

Since there was only a tiny bit of detergent left I decided to let him experiment with it. He quickly figured out that if you put water in it and shook it up it would squirt up like a rocket. This entertained him until all the suds were gone.

Pierson also likes to use anything he can find as a weapon. Here he was using this stick as a sword and telling me to be careful. I am not sure what I was supposed to be careful of but he was pretty serious about it! You can certainly tell that he grew up in a military foster home with two older brothers in the house.

Maylin learned to catch bubbles and thought it was pretty neat that she could carry them around. I think by the time I took this picture the big bubble had already popped but she didn't seem to notice. She was proud of her bubbles.

So the moral of the story is... When it is too hot to do anything else and you need to get out of the house. A little water and a little Dawn will go a long way!

Your kids are so creative - it's such fun to watch their antics. I love how they play. Glad you found a way to get out of the house. And who would have guessed that Chaucer would be so good with the kids.

Looks like a lot of fun. Glad they were so industrious. Can't wait for them to come to my house again. Will give them some water and Dawn and put them on my screen porch to clean off the remaining pollen! Is that called 'child labor'? haha
