Canoeing the New River

I was super excited about this expedition. I had not been canoeing for years. I just knew the kids were going to love it too. They were both super excited about going for a boat ride.
So for the first 5 minutes of our 3+ hour canoe ride I was a little nervous when I continually looked back to see this!  I was thinking it was going to be a loooonnnngggg ride. Maylin was looking... well... bored.
Fortunately she started to perk up quickly and began to giggle and seem to enjoy herself! (shew! that was a close one!)

From minute one Pierson was in heaven! He loved helping Grandpa and Grandma Claire paddle the boat.
We stopped on a rock for lunch and a swim. (Behind Adam and Pierson the rest of the crew loaded back into their boat.)
A little later down the road we stopped again to swim in a more shallow area. I think it was safe to say that the kids were in love with the river.
Pierson was enjoying walking in the rapids, skipping rocks and well, just being ornery.
Going belly up! He was having fun floating down stream.
 Family photo opp.
Heading down river again. Maylin was enjoying the rare chance to drink a soda.  I think she was surprised to be able to drink it so she was probably doing a little bit of taunting in this photo.
After a weekend of great adventure it was almost time to say goodbye. Before we headed back down the mountain towards home we stopped in for a bite to eat. To say that my kids are like zombies in front of a TV is a bit of an understatement.
Grandpa was getting a kick out of them... and they had no idea.
By the time the meal was over everyone was looking a little sluggish. Pretty sure we all slept well that night!
Thanks again for a great weekend!

Glad your canoeing looked a little smoother than our last canoeing adventure. :)
