Oh the joy of the beach!

Don't you just love the excitement of the first full day at the beach?! The smell of the salty water, the air you can cut with a knife, the board walk beneath your feet, the clean sand toys just waiting to become filthy, and the joy of anticipation. It is one of the most exciting days of the year in our family.

You see, we are beach bums! We were sure that our kids would like it just the same. Thankfully we were not disappointed! The kids jaws dropped at their first sighting of the "10 waters" aka the ocean. Pierson actually took a few steps back.
Their actual first sighting was Saturday evening at dusk. I can't believe that I didn't take the camera. I guess we were so excited to show them the sand and water that we rushed out the door as soon as we had all of our luggage in the house. It was getting dark so we wouldn't have gotten great pictures anyway. But I am sure you can imagine 5 kids running around in their undies splashing in the water running from the waves. It was fantastically fun!

Back to the first full day. Kylie and Pierson discussed their excitement as they approached the
10 waters. I think the conversation went something like this.
"Pierswen, do you remember the water from last night?"
"Umm, yep.."
"Well, that is where we are going right now. Isn't that fun?"
"Umm, yep."
Deep huh? :)

The girls enthusiasm for the sand won out over the water. I guess their little minds can only take in so much at one time. They had to stop in their tracks and examine the possibilities of entertainment that the sand could provide.

But before long Uncle Ian got their attention directed towards the water and they were off! How cute are they? You can almost hear their squeals of joy!

Pierson and Maylin learned to love every part of the beach. I think they are going to fit in just fine with the rest of us 'beach bums'.

Stay tuned! Lots more pictures to come!

It was such a wonderful week with all five grandchildren laughing, running, splashing, playing in the sand, learning to love each other.
So happy that they are as enthusiastic about the ocean as we adults.

I'm still kicking myself for not taking the camera to capture Pierson and Maylin's first reactions. It is a memory that will be etched in my mind forever!
Is it time to go back yet?

What a great week you must have had - love the pictures. Missed seeing everyone yesterday as planned but hopefully some day soon.
